Microsoft has slowly started releasing the new Windows 11. This updated version of Windows is brand new, and requires that your computer have something called a TPM chip (most of you may find that your computer does not have this). While TPM is standard on most new computers, if yours is more than a few years old its likely it will not be a good candidate for Windows 11.
Thats not a problem for two big reasons:
- I never recommend upgrading to ANY new operating system until it has been out in the public for at least 6 months. Initial releases are typically full of bugs and problems, and waiting a bit allows you to skip many of the headaches that come with a major operating system upgrade.
- Windows 10 will continue to be supported by Microsoft until at least 2025. Most of you with older computers will likely end up replacing before then, and your new computer will likely come with Windows 11 already installed.
Even if your computer is newer and does have the required TPM chip I still highly recommend not upgrading to Windows 11 immediately. Give it a few months and let Microsoft work out the bugs first, so that you have less to deal with.
As always I highly recommend you do not run any third party security software such as McAfee, Norton, Avast etc on a Windows 10 0r Windows 11 PC. Thats just asking for problem in my honest opinion. The final decision is yours, and I am still here to help you every day.
